Project: A new physical vapour deposition technology for the manufacture of combinatorial material libraries

COMBIMAT will commercialise a tool for material discovery via deposition of combinatorial material libraries by combining a versatile 16-target physical vapour deposition (PVD) system with a unique removable multi-temperature sample holder and motion-programmable mask. The mask allows complex compositional patterns (gradients, discrete steps) in multi-element thin films. Production of novel materials discovered like this can easily be scaled up.
