Project: HOt PLate Imaging & Topography Examination System

This project will develop a prototype inspection system to enhance the efficiency in steel plate mills. The system will identify defects on steel plates early within the manufacturing process, after hot rolling (still at 500 - 800°C), by using a stereo camera arrangement combined with a LIDAR scan, all mounted in a water cooled housing with integrated air purge. Processing software will merge the data producing a high resolution, 3D surface reconstruction to detect and identify defects.
