| Project Topic | In this project we propose to develop, characterise and test, tunable lasers suitable for next generation optical access networks (NG-PON2) based on 'Discrete Mode' (DM) laser diodes, see Annex 1, which can significantly reduce the cost of manufacturing lasers compared distributed feedback lasers (DFBs). The project will deliver proof of concept devices designed for use in NG-PON2, and will demonstrate their performance in real application scenarios. Target specs are given in Annex 2. |
