IPR and GDPR

IPR

On intellectual property rights (IPR) one can turn to European IP Helpdesk for assistance. It provides latest news, events and documents on the issue.

European IP Helpdesk has developed guide documents covering the basic facts on central Intellectual Property (IP) aspects in EU funded project life. The aim is to guide one through the expectations and requirements of the European Commission related to IP in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects and to offer hands-on advice and tips on how to put IP management into practice. These IP documents include also guidelines and recommendations for valorisation of knowledge and research results.

The Annotated Model Grant Agreement which is reachable through the Commission’s Funding & Tenders portal gives detailed guidance in handling IPR related costs in the projects.

GDPR

If personal data is collected, this must be done according to the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

All data related to an identified or identifiable person are personal data, e.g. name, email address, telephone number, etc.
The principles of GDPR are depicted in detail by the European Commission here.

When two more controllers jointly determine the purposes and means of data processing, they are joint controllers and should prepare and sign a Joint Controller Agreement. Examples are provided by ERA-LEARN.
