Project: Ultraviolet curable multifunctional coatings for public bathrooms

Project Topic	Public restrooms need to be clean in order to be used confidently by the public. Cleaning, maintenance and vandalism are some of the main aspects to manage when ensuring comfortable public restrooms. In this way the demand of products and functional coatings which solve these problems is increasing. UVICOAT project aims to develop an advanced multifunctional easy to apply UV curable sol-gel based technology that allows to provide highly durable Easy to Clean properties through antiadherent and hydrophobic effect including antigraffiti performance combined with antibacterial properties. The coatings and application systems developed will be tailored design to be applied on ceramic, metal and plastics bathroom appliances. The project will be based on versatile UV curable sol-gel chemistry that can be applied easily to real products during manufacturing processes in a cost-efficient way. To achieve these innovations the consortium counts with TECNAN, company expert in the field of nanotechnology solutions and nano-based coatings and RND as expert in UV curing.
