Project: AI-gent3D – AI-supported, generative 3D-Printing

Project Topic The target of AI-gent3D is to increase the efficiency of Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) by applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) into this new domain. Bond3D sells 3D printed parts from high performance polymers. Customers deploy high performance polymers in life critical situations and therefore high quality is key. Since Bond3D develops and operates the printers in their own facility, and much testing of end products is done, much data is available for further analysis. Therefore, this proposal differentiates two main fields of research: a) Develop an Automated Data Interlinkage and Preprocessing Pipeline b) Implement AI-Use Cases on High Performance Polymer 3D-Printing These three use cases are: 1. AI-based process parameter setting 2. Prediction of product quality while processing 3. Predictive Maintenance and machine status prediction The result of AI-gent3D will be an automated data interlinkage and preprocessing pipeline that can be applied to any FDM-process for PEEK. Furthermore three functioning pipelines for modeling the mentioned three use cases will be developed in modular way, so that they can be transferred to other FDM-, AM- or other production processes.
