Project: NOVEL INTERLAYER FILMS FOR LAMINATED GLASS PANELS WITH ENHANCED FUNCTIONALITIES

The industry is continuously developing innovative glass technologies that offer large performance advantages over older products. Laminated glass, where two or more glass panes are joint by an interlayer, has been used for decades for safety purposes thanks to its ability to hold together when shattered. More recently, other uses for laminated glasses have arisen, which include sound insulation, decoration and architectural design among others. Interlayer films can provide laminated glass with brilliant colours, distinctive patterns and varying degrees of transmission for privacy applications. In the NOVAGLASS project, additional functionalities based on printed electronics technologies will be explored covering lighting sources and RFID detection systems.
