Project: Development of advanced ink formulations based on specific nanoparticles to be used in inkjet equipments
This project aims to develop innovative ink formulations based on mixed/doped oxide nanoparticles suitable to be applied by inkjet equipments onto ceramic substrates. This global objective will be reached through the incorporation of the nanoparticles produced by different strategies (FSP, milling) within ink matrix, controlling the different ink parameters by the addition of stability agents among others in order to obtain stable and homogeneous ink formulations. The incorporation of nanoparticles enables overcoming the current ink problems, such as decomposition of compounds responsible for dye ability in organic inks, as well as the blocking problems in jetting heads due to the macrometric size of the inorganic pigments. Therefore, it is intended to produce inks formulations based on nanoparticles compatible with general inkjet technology to be deposited on ceramic substrates, taking as reference the compositions of the current macro-inorganic pigments.
