Project: Manufacturing technologies for the development of lab-on-a-chip devices

The proposal ManuLOC is focused to develop new manufacturing processes in order to get a new generation of low-cost miniaturized and portable analytical lab-on-a-chip devices (LOCs) as well as the integration of the electronic parts needed for its use. The developed microdevices will incorporate two detection systems based on amperometric and in conductimetry measurements. This novel transducer system will assure the sensing of both electrochemical active compounds as well as non-electroactive analytes and ions, covering many applications in various sectors and, hence, opening new market opportunities for the companies involved. Regarding the rest of the parts needed, within this project, all these components will be adequately designed and manufacture without increasing the final price of microdevices. This is very important as normally the instrumentation is not in harmony with the features of microdevices, specially, relative to miniaturization and portability.
