Project: Innovative plastic Materials and Processes to develop Advanced Components for Hand pallet Trucks

The overall aim of the Project is to develop a novel manufacturing technique (combination of compounding and injection moulding process) able to produce high-performing, lightweight, environmental-friendly components suitable for the material handling sector (e.g. hand pallet trucks or stackers). The originality of the approach is related to the fact that the new manufacturing technique will allow to process both post-consumer polymers and short natural fibres, considered as a “waste” and for the most disposed. They will be used to develop high-added value products characterised by enhanced properties with respect to the standard injection moulded, unreinforced thermoplastics.
