Project: Guidelines for Obesity Dietary Intervention Sharing

Acronym @OBEDIS
Duration 01/01/2018 - 01/01/2019
Project Topic Despite an increasing number of controlled dietary intervention trials in the field of obesity in recent years most of the standard recommendations are not supported by evidence. Indeed, the results of the existing clinical trials are very heterogeneous. There are numerous and complex phenotypes of obese patients, which could explain the extreme variability in the individual responses to dietary interventions and requires the integration of all facets of the patient phenotype to predict related subgroups and analyse the personalized needs based on the intervention studies. Therefore, a consensus regarding the phenotyping criteria and their assessment methods is required at the European level. Moreover, as a consequence of this heterogeneity, when using a single study, the subgroup analysis will lack statistical power. Therefore to be able to analyse the effect in relevant subgroups with significant power, there is a need to merge the results of multiple studies using an accurate classification of the patients. Thus, the aims of @OBEDIS project is to: - Reach an European agreement on the relevant multidimensional parameters to characterize obese patient phenotypes - To confirm the interest in key phenotyping criteria necessary to characterize homogeneous subgroups of obese patients by using 3 pan European dietary interventions on obese subjects as a case study. Moreover, the adherence of the data of these studies to the FAIR principles will be checked. - Draw general guidelines to merge obesity dietary intervention studies in order to be able to made subanalyses according an accurate classification of patients.
