Project: Sharing Actions and Strategies for Respectful and Equitable Health Care for Women with FGC/M

Acronym RHCforFGC (Reference Number: GNP-185)
Project Topic This international collaboration presents a unique opportunity for six migrant-receiving states namely, Belgium, Canada, France, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland to focus on improved care and prevention for migrants from FGC/M performing countries and thus contribute to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Given the variations in how migrant-host countries address the prevention of FGC/M, it is proposed: 1. To gather knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) of healthcare professionals towards FGC/M. Developed and implemented tools by partners in Spain, based on knowledge on the experiences of women with FGC/M will be the basis to build these healthcare professionals’ capacities at facing situations involving FGC/M. 2. To identify the extent to which current healthcare provider training packages incorporate the voices of women who have been subject to FGC/M. for the development of more efficient, culturally safe and gender sensitive training tools. 3. To compare and contrast predictive models of risk estimates across the partner countries. The RHC for FGC aims to use geographic mapping to better define the areas in which women and girls are more at risk of undergoing this procedure 4. To gain better understanding of the best practices regarding policy implementations and legal frameworks with regards to the prevention of FGC/M. 5. To develop with women and pilot-test an informative video on defibulation with outcomes to be measured for users and professionals
