Project: Visualization of Patient Data for easy management of care processes.

VISUAL-D's primary goal is to give a comprehensive picture of patients’ condition, both in real-time and historical, using textual and graphical means, and to sustain, in a task-oriented approach and based on advanced decision support algorithms, the application of accurate treatment plans and actions._x000D_Furthermore, using protocols and timelines, in combination with the visualization of patients’ relevant medical data, VISUAL-D will help make interrelations transparent, in order to take precise medical decisions._x000D_Another important characteristic of the project is the fast development and reusability of medical templates, achieved through two significant modules: the Computer Interpretable Guidelines Engine and the Clinical Templates Designer. This set of tools will allow users to execute clinical protocols and guidelines that encode and organize the decisions and action tasks for the medical personnel and also to easily create medical templates by visually dragging and dropping controls that automatically associate with the data source ._x000D_Based on the medical documents associated with a patient and on a complex array of business rules as a part of the current clinical pathway, the user will be presented with a number of alerts regarding patients, alerts that will include, amongst others, allergies status, high cardiovascular disease risks etc. Moreover, the alerts will suggest recommended actions to be taken as a consequence. During clinical pathway encoding and using the workflows designer and an advanced business rules engine, the user will have the possibility to define customized alerts, in order to receive all sorts of critical patients’ status notifications._x000D_The basic building block of VISUAL-D’s user interface is the “smartpart”, an independent graphical component with specific functionality (scheduling, tasks, patient medication, allergies, afflictions, messaging, medical charts, vital signs streams etc.). Therefore, VISUAL-D is a configurable combination of smartparts with complete inter-smartpart synchronization._x000D_The UI consists in two advanced dashboards, a general one, for patients search and alerts, and a patient centric one, for rendering medical data using a mixed visualization approach, specifically timelines and guidelines at the same time, recording new data, and a graphic module for advanced data visualization. The patient centric dashboard will have a customizable composite layout, based on smartparts synchronized by decoupled events, thus allowing an instant overview of all the necessary information, as configured by the end-user. The graphic component of the project will offer an even more comprehensive representation of patients’ clinical history and evolution of specific clinical markers over customizable time spans._x000D_The CO standards used in the VISUAL-D project are HL7 based: Entity Information Service (provides the unique identification of patients/doctors/etc.), Common Terminology Service (defines the core behaviour for managing vocabularies), Retrieve Locate and Update Service (provides the management of clinical information), Admission Discharge and Transfer (management of medical encounters), Clinical Document Architecture (markup standard language that specifies the structure and semantics of clinical documents), IHE Query of Existing Data (supports dynamic queries for clinical data, including vital signs, problems, medications, immunizations, diagnostic results, procedures and visits history)._x000D_VISUAL-D will overcome the problem risen from the unavailability of easily interpretable clinical guides within existing medical applications and will take the recording of clinical information beyond historical and statistical reasons, by being a proactive solution that is giving a strong decisional support to the end-user._x000D_The solution is targeted directly, but not exclusively, at the chronic diseases most commonly found in the pilot areas, oncology, HCV, HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, kidney chronic diseases etc._x000D_In order to successfully develop and execute such an advanced technological platform, a mix of specialized Ps with vast experience and a strong willing to cooperate and share a diverse set of complementary scientific proficiency and technical skills, has been created:_x000D_Info World S.R.L. – the Romanian market leader in Hospital Information Systems, has a long experience in researching and developing IT solutions for the healthcare market and brings an in-depth expertise in eHealth;_x000D_NoemaLife S.p.A. – the Italian market leader in Laboratory Information Systems, is specialized on the enhancement of clinical processes through automation and also has a vast experience in the field of healthcare IT;_x000D_Politehnica University of Bucharest – the oldest and most prestigious technical university in Romania, has the best available Computer Graphics Department._x000D_
