| Project Topic | CarboNor aims to establish a novel commercial brand of bioactive and structural carbohydrates from abundant seaweeds for the development of high-value biomedical and cosmetic products. The carbohydrates of interest are cellulose with superior properties compared to its counterparts from land plants and bacteria (Alga-C) and guluronate-rich molecules derived from alginates (Ultra-G). A monomer potentially usable as a bioplastic precursor (Bio-P) will also be isolated as a by-product of Ultra-G. |
