Project: SharkGuard: Mitigating shark bycatch in global longline fisheries

Project Topic	SharkGuard uses electric fields to deter sharks from hooks and offers a solution to the significant problem of shark bycatch in fisheries globally. Following promising early prototype trials, Fishtek Marine and ISI FISH will further test its efficacy in a commercial fishing setting. Through collaboration with Mediterranean fishers, we will deliver sea trials to demonstrate that SharkGuard significantly reduces the incidence of shark bycatch, and establish international markets for the device.
