Project: INSPIRATION

Acronym INSPIRATION (Reference Number: aal-2012-5-190)
Duration 01/07/2013 - 01/07/2016
Project Topic 1. Challenges addressed and AAL-solutions proposed: Physical, mental and social activities, as well as healthy nutrition are substantial conditions for a healthy and competent aging. What counts is that older adults must motivate themselves. There are many possibilities for for the elderly to live an active and healthy life. Unfortunately the motivation of many humans decrease during the aging process. The encouragements of family members, friends and many formal or informal guides (family doctor, nurse, books, magazines, tv programm, etc.) can often not solve the problem lastingly. The support by a Coach makes sense in this life phase, because the intrinsic motivation is generally smaller in this age. However, an comprehensive and payable implementation for a wide public is only possible with an ICT solution. Regarding self management of daily activities through inspiration we did not find any ICT/mobile based motivation tool focusing on healthy activities and nutrition. 2. Target groups for the AAL-solution proposal: Older adults with age of 60+, living independently in their own home with a special focus on 80+ people living in a single-person household. 3. Technology to be employed: Hard- and software providing the digital coach optimised for high usability with older adults. The innovative elements of this solution lie in the combination of ‘state of the art’ mobile information technologies with the self management of activities and nutrition. 4. Business model: The INSPIRATION application will be a cost-free service. The revenue model is based on: - Advertising fee - Sales transaction/commission fee - Licensing fee (optionally) 5. End user participation: Applications and usability with trials of 10-15 older adults per country (AT, CH, DE). Field trials with 10-15 end users in AT.
