1st CSP Joint Call

Basic Information

"The CSP ERANET 1st Cofund Joint Call is carried out by national / regional research and technology development (RTD) and innovation programmes and national / regional funding agencies in the field of concentrating solar power (CSP) / solar thermal electricity (STE). The CSP ERANET 1st Cofund Joint Call is carried out by the following countries and regions: Germany and North-RhineWestphalia, Greece, Israel, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Extremadura, Switzerland and Turkey. The Project will be based on the research and priorities identified in the SET Plan and the CSP Implementation Plan, prioritizing 8 topics: 1. Advanced linear Fresnel technology 2. Parabolic trough with molten salt 3. Parabolic trough with silicone oil 4. Open volumetric air receiver 5. Improved central receiver molten salt technology 6. Next generation of central receiver power plants 7. Multi-tower beam down system 8. Advanced TES (Thermal Energy Storage)

Aim of the joint call The aim of CSP ERANET is to coordinate the efforts of Member States, Associated Countries and Regions towards achieving CSP SET Plan objectives, by pooling their financial resources to implement joint calls for R&I proposals, resulting in strategic projects that could not be financed by individual countries or by the EC on their own. So, the aim of the Joint Call is to pool funds that will allow financing large-scale projects implementing medium to high TRL research, which will accelerate the time to commercial deployment of affordable, cost-effective and resource-efficient CSP technology solutions. This will allow to decarbonise the energy system in a sustainable way and to place CSP technology in a referent position by filling the gap of some RES technologies that are not manageable or storable at an affordable cost.
