| Project Topic | The main goal of the SEASNAKE project is to provide a step change in the overall performance of a medium voltage cable system, while ensuring that they are highly reliableand lower the risks ofocean energy installations. Project objectives:•To increase the economic viability of OWC systems by reducing the Levelized Cost of Energy(LCOE) at least 20%•To proof that 95% availability can be achieved with an improved design for reliability, maintainability and survivability of all cable sub-systems, validated in a relevant environment, reaching TRL7•De-risk and optimise the offshore operations•Demonstration of dynamic cable solutions•Minimise environmental impactTo understand challenges and to optimize components, more offshore tests and numericalmodelling of loads are required. Through established methodologies, a later certification of solutions is prepared. A successful project strengthens the maritime cluster in Europe and create innovative solutions to be used in other offshore applications and benefit the export industry. The project team consists of the entire value chain from cable manufacturing, end-users, coatings, O&M, to academia and test facilities.It connects the ocean energy industry throughout Europe the entire value chain from offshore test sites in Portugal, end-user in Ireland and Sweden, testing facilities in France to O&M specialists in the UK contributing with their unique experience. |
