Project: Search and Cartography of Online OPinions

New web 2.0 places of expression such as blogs blogs, social networks or discussion forums represent a clear economic and societal interest. Thousands comments are daily posted on these media and constitute a non exploited layer of information about citizen opinion._x000D__x000D_Objective: The aim of SCOOP is a new intelligent way to extract data from web 2.0 sources. This technical solution will be able to discover trend an opinions from a minimum of words or sentences. To reach this result, innovation concerns the development of new syntactic and semantics analysis (like sentiment analysis). The system processed in the context of SCOOP target high- analysis performances and real-time processing in order to understand quickly the meaning of the identified opinions._x000D__x000D_Research content : The project will develop and demonstrate the efficiency of the first software able to deal with the complete process of search, acquisition, analysis and representation of the online opinions. The research content is: (1) Development of algorithmic tools provide by SME Go Albert France (AMI Software) necessary for the identification of sources of quality and the reconstitution of contents. (2) Definition of the coverage for the Italian, French and English dependancy grammars in order to deal with linguistic phenomena which are typically involved in sentiment expressions. (3) Development of the process of opinion calculus. (4) Development of tools of clusterisation. (5) Complete integration of the components developed with cartographic representation._x000D__x000D_Technical applications: The project will explore the Natural Language technologies such as text mining, semantic analysis, dependancy grammar and sentiment analysis. SCOOP will adress the development of advanced technologies of automatic construction of cartography in order to present great quantities of information._x000D__x000D_Market applications: Annually, €20 billions are spent in market and opinion studies in the European Union. In order to extract and analyze the information of the Web’s new place of expression, the project will propose a new software for market studies institutes, communication agencies and companies which offers final products and services to customers._x000D__x000D_Projects persepectives: The project will propose for all the organizations interested by the new Web 2.0 information sources a complete application of analysis and treatment for this type of data. SCOOP will open a new way to analyse the Web opinions._x000D__x000D_Consortium structures: The project integrates crucial competences of linguistic analysis, sentiment analysis and clustering/cartography. For a better mutualisation of knowledge in these fields the consortium is composed of 1/ AMI Software, SME specialist in clustering/cartography 2/ CELI ITALY and 3/ CELI FRANCE SMEs providers for sentiment analysis technology. 4/ XEROX a linguistic analysis provider.

CELI France greatly improved its solution of sentiment analysis. Moreover it set up a delivery of sentiment analysis based on SOAP web services, which make it the only European actor able to connect opinion monitoring with service enabled applications.
