Project: ”New Machinery Research And Development or Packaging And Weighing In The Field Of Tubolar Packaging”

The experimental research and development project refers to R&D of a new machine for packing with tubular film._x000D_The specific interest of the enterprises that work in this segment (COly SMEs) is to dispose of systems that allow a strong reduction of the costs of executing the process and, at the same, a high level of automation in of the same process. Besides this interest, the mentioned segment is in need of productive systems that bring together high flexibility (to answer quickly to changing needs of the market) and the possibility to attain growing levels of productivity in enterprise development. Packing in plastic bags (PE) on the base of tubular spools is a process that is currently typical in sectors that deal with products with high granulometry and high flowability._x000D_The use of a packing technique that relies on tubular spools (double welding) is opposed to the packing technique that relies on flat spools (triple welding). The double welding packing sector is divided in three different areas; each one of these characterized by a different rate of productivity (under 1000 sacks per hour; around 1600 sacks per hour; over 2000 sacks per hour); the proposed technique refers to the whole market and in particular to the first two areas. _x000D_The enterprises that belong to these two segments need systems that may allow: a reduction of production and operating costs, an increase in efficiency and high reliability of the systems. _x000D_The Plug&Pack project aims at studying and developing innovative solutions in order to make available to the market a new system with the following characteristics:_x000D_1. A lower level of operating costs/uses respect to the process carried out with the triple welding technique. _x000D_2. Complete automatism in the execution of the process with a reduction in set-up times and a consequent reduction of use of employment of human resources in dangerous phases of the manufacturing process. Currently two aspects of the proposed technique are not used by enterprises of the relevant market:_x000D_Ø Automatic centering of film for sack production;_x000D_Ø Automatic change of spool_x000D_3. Optimization of energy consumption/use, reduction of noise pollution and dust levels._x000D_4. Adjustment of the level of productivity of the system in order to apply it in all three mentioned areas of the market. This will allow application of the system in sectors that deal with low flowability. These actions will result in specific objectives:_x000D_1. A new system for centering and automatic setting_x000D_2. A new warehouse system with automatic loading of spools_x000D_3. A new production system with online carousel_x000D_4. A new detachment system for welding _x000D_5. A new cleaning system for the sack’s opening_x000D_6. Advanced and distributed sensor system for process control _x000D_7. Management and control interfaces for process_x000D_The consortium that was created for the presentation of the project is made up of two enterprises that are leaders in their sectors and that are characterized by important previous experiences. Moreover these enterprises have dealt and deal with studies and projects in research and development at national and international level. _x000D_In particular Technipes is expert in production techniques related to automatic packing machines and EST (P) is expert in studying and developing new sensor systems and in the definition of innovative controls for new instrumental goods. The enterprise has had very good past experiences in international research projects (Eureka!)_x000D_

New machinery for packaging with tubular film, which allows changing automatically the supply coil employed for the production of double-welded bags, has been designed. _x000D_The machinery has been developed with a series of improved systems compared to those of the competition, among which:_x000D_• cleaning system of the bag’s mouth_x000D_• welding separation system _x000D_• film automatic centering system_x000D_• quality control system of the final product_x000D_The developed product is placed on the market with high flexibility, with the possibility of employing the new system for productivity ranging from 2000 to 8000 bags per hour (with a maximum modular configuration of 4 elements)._x000D_The CO characteristics of the product are the already-mentioned innovative system of automatic loading of the coil which can serve all the 4 modules, and the optional system of quality control of the manufactured bags, also useful for all the modules._x000D_
