Project: Enhanced Reputation Assessment through Social Mining
The project goal is to develop innovative data mining techniques and their real-time implementation as services for the evaluation of experts’ profiles and reputation._x000D__x000D_Experts profiling is an important step in two growing applications field represented in the project by Mendeley, the word first researcher network and ideXlab, a leading open Innovation intermediary._x000D_Mendeley implements a crowdsourced research database with a unique layer of social information that can be used to identify and create research Pships._x000D__x000D_ideXlab has implemented a research papers mining technique allowing the deep search and identification of candidate experts able to solve industry problems._x000D__x000D_For these two commercial applications, the accuracy of experts profiles, their complementarities and reputation assessment are the fundamental elements of the value proposition._x000D__x000D_It is the project Ps conviction that modern techniques of combined graphs and semantic data mining can provide very robust measures of these characteristics and therefore create a unique and new value from un-exploited, available and growing data set._x000D__x000D__x000D_The ERASM consortium is composed of: _x000D__x000D_ideXlab (lead), Paris, is a leading open innovation intermediary with a mission to connect research with industrial needs. ideXlab provide assistance and services to companies to use Open Innovation in order to reduce development costs, swiftly and competitively develop new products and services or maximise return on investment using a worldwide network of resources and Ps. ideXlab intends to implement the project outcome in its open innovation platform and automate the process of evaluating Solvers expertise before contacting them or recommending them to innovation Seekers._x000D__x000D_Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) is the leading research institution for natural sciences in Slovenia having over 900 researchers within 25 departments working in the areas of computer science, physics, and chemistry and biology. Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, having approx. 30 researchers, is one of the largest European research groups working in the areas of machine learning, data mining, language technologies, semantic technologies and recently sensor networks. One of the key items on the research agenda is combining modern statistical data analytic techniques with more traditional logic based knowledge representations and reasoning techniques with the purpose to progress in solving complex problems such as text understanding, large scale probabilistic reasoning, building broad coverage knowledge bases, and dealing with scale. _x000D__x000D__x000D_Mendeley, Ltd., is a free reference manager and academic social network that can help people organize their research, collaborate with others online, and discover the latest research. Mendely will provide the researcher network database, the publications abstracts database, graphs and activity data. They will benefit from the project development for developing new services for matching their subscribers profiles and suggestion of research collaboration._x000D__x000D_Modro oko, Ljubljana is working on establishment and development of information systems and tools supporting knowledge management and related technologies in different ICT areas. The CO areas of work include development of intelligent interactive solutions for visualization and manipulation of complex data, that combine application of Text, Web and Data Mining methods with visualization techniques of graph drawing and simple user interfaces for the end user. Developed tools have applications in publishing houses, media companies and telecommunications; development and application of optimization solutions with an application in supply chain management processes within large companies and; consultancy for data analytics and Web 2.0. _x000D__x000D_Telecom ParisTech_x000D_Telecom ParisTech, one of France's top five graduate engineering schools, is considered the leading French school in Information and Communication Technology (ICT)._x000D__x000D_Telecom ParisTech’s teaching is delivered in a high-level scientific environment. Telecom ParisTech’s research activities cover both the fundamental aspects of top-quality upstream research and applied research carried out in close collaboration with the socio-economic sector. 205 professors and 350 PHD students work in four research departments along with associate researchers within a combined research unit of the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research): the LTCI (Laboratoire Traitement et Communication de l'Information – Information Processing and Communication Laboratory). _x000D__x000D_The dataset will be analyzed and possibly modeled by means of dedicated Machine-Learning techniques (graph-mining methods for social network analysis in particular), skills fully mastered within Telecom ParisTech._x000D__x000D__x000D_

Project Results (after finalisation) |
The project allowed us to develop new components of our solution . These components allow us to better exploit third party data to provide our expert finding service but also to improve the way data is presented to the end users._x000D_The outcome of this is a richer service and globally a better customer acceptance leading to more business opportunities._x000D__x000D_The Pship with Mendeley provided us with access to very valuable data (publications and statistics), the Pship with TelecomParis Tech and JSI/Modro allowed us to integrate innovative solutions._x000D_ |
