| Project Topic | Urinary catheters account for 40% of all infections at hospitals, at an annual cost of 3.9 B€. The partners will develop an innovative high-end Foley balloon catheter to provide sustained protection against urinary infections. Materials rejecting bacterial adhesion and a new coating will be combined with a semipermeable balloon. The system will be a universal platform, giving hospitals the freedom to tailor the type and dose of relevant antibiotics/drugs delivered through the balloon. |
