Project: sEAmless SustaInable EveRyday urban mobility

Acronym EASIER (Reference Number: 99950024)
Duration 01/03/2021 - 29/02/2024
Project Topic The goal of EASIER is to increase the share of active and sustainable personal transport modes, such as walking, biking, public transport and shared mobility services with an emphasis on the combination of modes to multimodal journeys. With focus on the traveller’s perspective, we explore how sustainable travel options can cater to diverse daily transport needs to obtain: 1) improved mobility experiences; 2) more efficient and balanced use of urban space by reducing space for private motorised modes; 3) increased physical and mental health through more active lifestyles, and less disease caused by noise and emissions; 4) improved social inclusion through a better transport system that is more accessible to all societal groups; and 5) all together leading to reduced CO2 and particle emissions. EASIER combines leading experts in behavioural modelling, urban design and planning, psychology, and operations research in an unprecedented holistic multidisciplinary approach with national, regional and urban authorities, transport agencies, shared mobility providers, and user organisations from Denmark, Germany, Norway, and Sweden, securing direct end-user ownership of results and high impact. Results in the form of new knowledge, statistical models, decision support tools, design principles and regulatory design can support new policies for sustainable transport.
