Project: Blue health and wealth from the Baltic Sea – a participatory systematic review for smart decisions

Acronym ROSEMARIE (Reference Number: call2017-26)
Duration 01/10/2018 - 31/03/2020
Project Topic ROSEMARIE conducts evidence syntheses on the status and future of the intermediate and final ecosystem services of the Baltic Sea, estimation methods and models of their monetary and non-monetary values and on their importance on human life-styles and well-being. Which associations of the ecosystem services potentially amplify each other or, are there apparent negative synergies between these services? What are the effects of consumptive and non-consumptive use of marine ecosystem services on the mental and physical health of people? How to capture full spectrum of non-monetary and monetary ecosystem service values needed in smart decisions to achieve sustainable blue growth? Each synthesis is accompanied by policy briefs, and key results and research gaps are summarized in a whiteboard video. The methodological novelty is to combine Collaboration for Environmental Evidence’s systematic review standards and guidelines with an iterative stakeholder dialogue. This together with an interdisciplinary research team with a strong background in ecosystem services research and policy support, delivers objective, reliable, transparent and repeatable evidence base for stakeholder needs.
