Project: Enhanced Daily Living and Health 2

Acronym EDLAH2 (Reference Number: aal-2015-2-022)
Duration 01/06/2016 - 01/12/2018
Project Topic EDLAH2 will uniquely utilise gamification mechanisms to motivate, stimulate and encourage useage of the service by older adults, via an incentive and reward process running across the entire system. EDLAH2 will provide a skills utilisation tool, enabling the older adult to use their skills within their local community, matching their skills with local opportunities for short term work. There will be a Games Hub. A specially designed set of entertaining and memory stimulating games developed for the older person. These will be fun and neurologically assistive in slowing memory loss (Dementia). EDLAH2 will develop a comfortable/discrete intelligent wearable activity monitor able to learn behaviour and alert on abnormality. Allowing informal carers to remotely observe if loved ones are active and safe. Whilst allowing the older person a sense of autonomy and independence. EDLAH2 will feature a unique web browser developed entirely for the older person, being simple, clear and easy to use, including clear text to speech with corrected pronunciation. This will assist those with deteriorating eyesight to be aware and engaged in local activity, gaining information from complex difficult to read local government, charity etc websites. This will be tablet based and in the UK added to the already developed original EDLAH service Apps available through app stores and as a service package. For active 65-75 year olds possibly with mild cognitive difficulties, the apps will assist them in social, economic and entertaining solutions in everyday life. Boredom, lack of motivation, loneliness and a sense of being undervalued will be removed. The end user is the reason that we are doing this! They are vital to us their input crucial. We have three end user partners from 3 EU states in our project. Each of these will provide volunteers from our target group (who after being asked to complete a consent form) will be involved in trials and design input throughout the project.
