Project: Gamified Collaborative Platform for the Promotion of Sustainable Care & Independent Assisted Living

Acronym MyMate (Reference Number: aal-2014-1-079)
Duration 01/11/2015 - 01/11/2018
Project Topic The MyMATE consortium is of the view that new more humanized care models can be addressed effectively if a gamification approach, combined with a human touch, is applied to ICT-based solutions. The MyMATE ICT applies a gamification approach to create a network of motivated, healthy, agile elderly volunteers who will act as “human sensors” in the implementation of “care in the community” programmes for dependent people. The MyMATE ICTbased solution: Reconciles increased demand with limited resources –Exploring a new approach that can anticipate future trends in demand, increases and facilitates the supply of formal and informal care for older adults –strengthening the collaboration between formal and informal carers so that formal care resources can be used more efficiently, reduces the demand for care through prevention and self-management – creating an environment in which elderly people help each other and derive benefit from doing so, supports the shift towards better care at home and in the community – conceiving an approach to support “care in the community programmes”, designed and managed by care managers. The MyMATE project integrates the three categories of users that will benefit from this new attentional model: the primary users (elderly), who are part of the MyMATE Community and shall also be constantly in touch with real people in the network; the informal carers, having the opportunity to keep active, make a valuable contribution to their local community and receive reward and recognition for their efforts and the care manager/provider, obtaining greater flexibility and humanization in the way they place and manage care plans. The technical partners will develop the MyMATE System comprising: the MyMate App and MyMate Dashboard. Both applications will work with a MyMATE central server where data and game mechanics will be stored. This system will be commercialized in the European Elderly Centres to promote a sustainable care.
