Implementing Joint Calls - A hands-on workshop for new practitioners in ERA-NET Cofund

ERA-LEARN 2020 organized a workshop on Call implementation in Brussels 24-25 September 2015. Coordinators of ERA-NET Cofunds were especially invited, though also partners in JPIs and other ERA-NETs were among the participants. About 35 participants representing 20 institutions in 12 countries took part in the workshop. The participants were introduced to the ERA-NET Cofund scheme, the ERA-LEARN 2020 website and the ERA-LEARN online toolbox for call implementation. Presentations were given from DG Research & Innovation and from the ERA-LEARN 2020 partner organizations. During the Group Work session the following themes were discussed:

  • Scope of call, timing, motivation and commitment of participants
  • Call marketing and supporting documentation & IT support for marketing, submission and evaluation
  • Evaluation and funding decision: principles, procedures, timeline in detail
  • Funding modes and principles, monitoring & reporting

The participants were asked to give their feedback after the workshop. They were all very satisfied and found the workshop useful for their daily work. They also found the ERA-LEARN manual for call implementation very useful.

Conclusion:

The participants as well as the organizers found the workshop interesting and successful. The groups had realistic and interesting discussions, since quite many of the participants had some experience in “real  life” discussions. The online toolbox and the manual for Call implementation  functions well. ERA-LEARN will organize a similar workshop in the near future, based on these experiences.
